Amazingly, we’re still speaking!
From her side of the Pennines, Jule’s been up to her eyeballs with bookings, auditions, scenery, costumes, travel schedules, rehearsals and building a brand new website for Act One. Meanwhile, back in the Peak (safely on the other side of the Pennines!) I’ve been keeping myself out of mischief (-ish!), writing press releases corporate brochures and in-between times trying (not too successfully) to finish my dog warden book.
But now things at Panto HQ are really hotting up, so much so that the latest message from Jule to hit my inbox simply screams the word “HELP!” in big bold letters - understandably, as we have not one but THREE productions making their first appearance this season.
First off (but don’t take my word for it) is our new Murder Mystery. Yes, not only are we staging pantomimes these days but branching out into Agatha Christie territory with ‘Bring on the Clowns,’ which is not so much showing as ‘happening’ from October 20th at various venues, including Radisson Hotel in Durham. Apparently, this event has already SOLD OUT, but Jule plans to extend it well into 2014.
Our new ‘mini’ panto, ‘Robin Hood’, has also been in demand, leaving just a handful of dates between 16th November to 31st December 2013 for nursing and retirement homes, and other small venues such as pubs, clubs, parties and after school clubs.
And let’s not forget the highlight of the season, our fab new full-length pantomime, ‘Peter Pantastic,’ (loosely) based on the perennial favourite by J M Barrie, which will be touring theatres, civic centres and larger community halls from 23rd November 2013 to 5th January 2014. Free family tickets can be won for shows at the Shildon Civic at 5th & 6th December in our ‘Stinkerbell’s Magic Machine’ Competition when children are invited to submit a drawing of what they think Stinkerbell’s new Magic machine could look like. All entries should be sent to Stinkerbell’s special workshop at Hackworth Industrial Park (see link below).
